Welcome to HOUND'S BAY!
The Internet's First All-Basset Item Auction Se rvice
Hound's Bay is a FREE* auction service sponsored by
The Daily Drool.
NEW: If you are auctioning items for Basset Rescue, you must designate which rescue is to benefit

Anyone can view the basset items up for auction, but
if you wish to post an item, or bid on an item, you must register

If you click on the ENTER 'PAW'CTION link below,
you will come to our terms and agreements page.
Once you agree, you will then be forwarded to our registration page.

*Fees for Non Charity Auctions: As of May 1, 2003 , all items sold through Hound's Bay not benefitting a rescue are subject to a nominal fee of 5% of the final, winning bid, payable by the seller. This money will be used to support the costs of running this site and basset rescue. Items that are sold to raise money for basset rescue, where over 50% of the final, winning bid will be donated to a legitimate basset rescue organization, are exempt from this charge. The owner of Hound's Bay has sole discretion to determine if a rescue organization is 'legitimate' for purposes of this exemption. Bidding on an item and registering are free on this server. Seller will be billed automatically at close of auction.

ENTER 'PAW'CTION

If you need Instructions, please review the Hound's Bay Auction Basic Tutorial below:

To post an item for auction: Enter auction and click on the 'Post New Item' link at the bottom of the page.
A window will open like the graphic to the right.
1) Type in the name of the item up for bid
2) Choose the appropriate category from the drop-down menu
3) If you choose to post a photo of your item, it must be uploaded first to a web site. If you do not have your own site, you can upload it to a service like photopoint.com for free. The photo can be no larger than 2.75" x 2.75 inches to fit!
4) This window determines your auction length - from 1 - 14 days.
5) Type in your registered 'handle'
6) Type in your password
7) Fill in the amount you would like people to start bidding on your item.
8) A 'reserve' price is the minimum bid you will allow an item to be 'won' at. Thus, if someone has and item that they paid $25 on, they might want to set a 'reserve' at $30 to protect their investment. If there is no reserve, just leave this blank
9) Fill in the amount you want each bid to rise.

Placing a Bid:
After clicking on one of the auction items, the graphic to the right will appear underneath the item description and photo (if there is a photo). Just type in your registered 'handle', password, and your *minimum* bid.

NOTE - THIS IS NOT LIKE EBAY. There are no 'proxy bids'. If you see an item and the maximum you will pay is $36, typing $36 in the window will up the bidding price immediately to $36. In the bid window, type your minimum bid.
